Early Childhood Education Level 2 – Prince Albert

Early childhood education certifICATE program

Dumont Technical Institute’s Early Childhood Education Certificate Program is accredited through Lakeland College. It gives you the knowledge and skills needed to work in a variety of childcare settings, including early learning and childhood education centers, day homes, and preschools.

As you work towards your one-year certificate you will learn to:

  • Use observation skills to create experiences for young children based on their interests and needs
  • Design learning environments that invite play and exploration both indoors and outdoors
  • Develop relationships and support children and their families
  • Run an early learning program

Each semester has a practicum. Practicums take place in a childcare center or preschool setting giving you real-life experiences.

When you graduate, you are eligible to apply to become a licensed Early Childhood Educator. Many childcare centers and preschools only hire licensed ECEs. Graduates of the certificate program may work towards their Early Childhood Education Diploma.
