Chanse Kipp

Program: Practical Nursing
Education: Dumont Technical Institute

Believing in myself and giving me the ability to be outside my comfort zone has been the biggest benefit I have gained through the program”

Dumont Technical Institute Graduate

Chanse Kipp is a Practical Nursing Graduate from Dumont Technical Institute (DTI). “The past two and a half years have been a whirlwind of emotions, self-discovery, and accomplishment,” Chanse said about his experience studying at DTI. In 2021, Chanse applied as a mature student to become a Métis healthcare practitioner.

The intimacy of the DTI campus and smaller class sizes motivated him to apply because he felt like he would be treated like a student and not a number. Chanse said he noticed the difference as soon as he applied, “The interview process was more familiar and made me feel like I was selected not based solely on my academic achievements but also for strength of character and belief I could succeed in the course.” He could have chosen another small technical college, but he felt like he wouldn’t have made the connections he has with other Métis healthcare professionals.

Since graduating in the spring, Chanse has worked as a PN for the Saskatchewan Health Authority. He enjoys the work, and he feels an immense sense of Métis pride in his profession. His advice for other prospective students is to believe in yourself enough to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Chanse is grateful for his learning experience at DTI, and he says going back to school has helped him to “pursue a career that feels more a kin to a calling and provides gainful employment both financially and spiritually.” If you’re ready to find your calling, apply today to become a future Métis healthcare worker!
