The Gabriel Dumont Institute invites applications for a 1 year full time position as Faculty III at the Northern Saskatchewan Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NSITEP) in Air Ronge, Saskatchewan.

NSITEP is a new four-year fully accredited Bachelor of Education degree program offered by the Gabriel Dumont Institute in cooperation with Lac La Ronge Indian Band and the University of Regina.

Responsibilities: Duties will include teaching various courses in the area of Liberal Arts and teacher training programs. Applicants will be required to have a strong background in cross-cultural education, excellent knowledge of Saskatchewan curriculum and Métis/First Nations studies. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate programs, supervise students in field teaching opportunities, and teach 4 courses (12 credits) or equivalent, as well as participate in engagement or outreach within the broader educational community.

Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have a Masters Degree in Education; a Professional A Teaching Certificate; a minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience at the post secondary level; prior teaching experience in the K-12 system; prior experience working with pre-service teachers; and a strong knowledge of Métis and First Nations issues in culture and education. A strong background and experience with Northern Indigenous culture is required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Professional studies appropriate to elementary/middle year’s education will be given preference.

Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of service in a university setting, field or profession through leadership in professional organizations; evidence of integrating technology into instruction, on-line teaching, or using other emerging technologies.
Competence with the Michif and/or Cree language would be considered an asset.

Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefits package based on GDI pay grid

Term: August 2021 – August 2022
