Wrap yourself in history with this one-day Métis style capote workshop!
The great thing about these workshops is that anyone can do it. The capote is hand-sewn in the blanket stitch, so even the most inexperienced sewers can make their own capotes. Our facilitator Suszan Lagrove Couillard, has helped hundreds of capotes “come to life” over 30+ years.
Choose from one of the following workshop times:
1. Tuesday January 30th and Wednesday January 31st: two evenings 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
2. Saturday, February 3rd: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
3. Sunday, February 4th: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All workshops will be held at the Gabriel Dumont Institute at 917 22nd Street West. The workshop fee is $325.00 (pre-pay to secure your spot), and there is a limit of 10 participants per workshop. Workshop fees cover all supplies, including the Hudson’s Bay point blanket, history, and instruction. We have a variety of blanket colours and styles available.
