The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

Responsibilities: As a key member of the senior leadership team, and reporting to the Executive Director of the Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI), the Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for all facets of the finance, accounting, and administrative operations functions of GDI and for ensuring the financial health and growth of the organization. Responsibilities include liaising with and maintaining ongoing relationships with each functional GDI department, with external stakeholder partners, and with all relevant departments of the Federal, Provincial, and Métis governments; developing, monitoring, and reporting of annual budgets and business plans; increasing efficiencies including development, testing, and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system; supervision of senior staff; policy review, development, and implementation; quarterly and annual reports to the board as required; ensure completion of annual financial audits for all GDI entities; financial and administrative reporting on funding contracts across GDI; work collaboratively with the GDI Facilities Manager and IT Coordinator regarding operational issues, IT infrastructure and security; management of the Institute’s investment portfolio; proactive leadership; and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of the Gabriel Dumont Institute.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance and a professional designation, five years’ experience in a similar position or combination of equivalent educational qualifications and work experience would be considered; a minimum of five years managerial/supervisory experience; a background and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is a must; a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff and other agencies; extensive understanding of Métis culture and the needs of the Métis within Saskatchewan.
