The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Indigenous Apprenticeship Manager, the Employment Counsellor II will be responsible for working with the Indigenous Apprenticeship Program to provide essential support to employer partners to hire new first-year Indigenous Apprentices in the Red-Seal trades; performing follow-up activities; performing file maintenance; responding to inquiries; maintaining client management system records; and other duties as assigned. This position will provide service to the entire province, with office space available in either Meadow Lake or North Battleford. This position is fixed-term, and tied to special project funding.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree combined with related work experience or equivalent educational qualifications and work experience; a minimum of two years’ experience in service delivery for employability; strong written and verbal skills; highly effective computer skills to support virtual service delivery; a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively & collaboratively with GDI Team and other external agencies; extensive understanding of Métis culture and employment and training needs of the Métis, and an understanding of Apprenticeship labour market issues and trends within Saskatchewan. A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are a must.
Term: September 1, 2022 to March 31, 2024
