Sessional Sociology (160) Online Instructor – Continuing Care Assistant

Responsibilities: To provide instruction in Sociology (SOC 160) to adult students enrolled in the Continuing Care Assistant program. Planning, preparation, and delivery of appropriate Sociology course instruction to students. Manage classroom/lab activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students. Evaluate student performance and provide academic guidance. Attend scheduled meetings, and other duties as assigned. Evaluation of student progress using proscribed assessment measurement and oral report is ongoing during each semester.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in sociology or a master’s degree in social studies is preferred. A degree in a related discipline, in addition to experience in the industry will be considered on a case-by-case basis. (ie. Master of Psychology with counselling experience). Two years recent/relevant experience in business/industry or post-secondary education. Effective communication skills (oral and written). Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Effective instructional ability. Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, email, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology. Ability to work as a team member and foster teamwork. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
Remuneration: $65.00 per hour (50 hours)
Location: Online
Term: January 2024 – June 2024 (50 hours)
