Sessional Sociology (160) Online Instructor – Continuing Care Assistant

Responsibilities: To provide planning, instruction, marking and student support for adult students in the sociology 160 course. Must work well on a team and communicatee with lead instructor about scheduling, student progress and marks. Class is described as follows:
Sociology 160 (45 hours): Using your sociological imagination, you will examine how to practice sociology, and learn about the importance of culture, socialization, and the family. You will discuss social inequality in Canada, as well as explore the concepts of social control and deviance. Your studies will also include issues related to the power of mass media, the dualism of sex and gender, and race and ethnicity. You will have an opportunity to examine collective behavior, social movements, social change, and globalization.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in sociology and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years recent/relevant experience in business/industry or post-secondary education. Effective communication skills (oral and written). Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Effective instructional ability. Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
Remuneration: $65.00 per hour
Location: Online (Prince Albert and Île-à-la-Crosse)
Term: January 2025 – June 2025 (68 hours)
