SUNTEP Prince Albert requires a sessional instructor for ECUR 484.3 – The Play Development Relationship Curricular Commonplaces in the Early Years
Course Description: Description of Course: The early years are a precious time, full of wonder, curiosity, and rapid growth and development. To honour this unique time in children’s lives, we will explore the relevance and importance of play, imagination, and creativity to early childhood development, situated within the curricular commonplaces of child, teacher, curriculum and pedagogy, and milieus. As we deepen our understanding of the “play-development” relationship unfolding in children, birth to age eight, we will examine how the principles of early learning underpin children’s holistic development. Attention will be given to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives and ways of knowing, and culturally responsive practices that integrate the out of school experiences of linguistically and culturally diverse children and families into classroom learning.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver course content that aligns with the course objectives.
• Engage students in interactive and practical learning experiences.
• Monitor and assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Facilitate discussions and activities that encourage active learning.
• Support students in their learning.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Education and be approved by the USASK College of Education. An understanding of Gabriel Dumont Institute values and
previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is an asset.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of experiential play based theories and current practices within the Saskatchewan school curriculum.
Remuneration: U of S Sessional Lecturer wage grid
Location: Prince Albert, SK
Term: January 7, 2025 to April 2, 2025 (Tuesdays 1 – 4)
