The Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) – Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

Responsibilities: SUNTEP Saskatoon requires a sessional instructor for INDG 280.6 for 2024-2025 Fall & Winter Term. This course will provide students, through lectures and seminar readings, to learn the origin and development of the Métis. This course emphasizes the historical significance of the Métis in the development of Western Canada and discusses contemporary issues of the Métis. Indigenous Studies 280 is a survey course, focusing upon the history and contemporary experiences of the Métis peoples of Western Canada. Through lectures, seminars and weekly readings, the course examines the ethnogenesis of the Métis in North America, their economic, social, and political history, and their struggle for recognition of Métis rights in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
The assignment would involve planning, preparation and delivery of appropriate course instruction to students. Manage classroom activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students. Evaluate student performance and provide consistent feedback. Awareness and implementation of culturally responsive approaches.
Qualifications: Candidate must possess a Master of Education and /or equivalent combination of training and experience in the content area and be approved by the University of Saskatchewan. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work with Indigenous student populations are an asset.
Remuneration: U of S Sessional Lecturer wage grid
