The Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) – Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

Sessional Instructor – Critical Perspectives in Educational Thought & Values
(EFDT 435)

Responsibilities: SUNTEP Saskatoon requires a sessional instructor for EFDT 435 for the Winter Term 2025. This course explores the normative dimensions of teaching including the purposes of schooling, the capacities of an educated person, the scope of moral education, the valued characteristics of good teachers, and value issues related to different kinds of teaching and the content of what is to be learned.

This course explores critical theories that are foundational to anti-racist and anti-oppressive education, including critical race theory, feminist theory, post structural and feminist post structural theory, queer theory, and postcolonial theory. Our objective is to use these theories as critical lenses through which to examine the normative dimensions of teaching. An emphasis will be placed on Métis experiences, Indigenous education, and activism.
Awareness and implementation of culturally responsive approaches is an asset

Qualifications: The candidate must posses a Master of Education and/or equivalent combination of training and experience in the content area and be approved by the University of Saskatchewan. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work with Indigenous student populations are an asset.

Remuneration: U of S Sessional Lecturer wage grid
