Overview:
The Gabriel Dumont Institute has been administering scholarships for Saskatchewan’s Métis since the early 1980s through the Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation (GDSF). Scholarships are awarded to Métis students who are Saskatchewan residents registered as full-time students at an accredited post-secondary institution.
The programs are intended to recognize the leadership, academic ability, financial need, and community involvement of students who meet the eligibility criteria for any or all scholarship programs.
Vacancies:
In accordance with the Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation Trust, Appointment of Trustees, “All such appointees shall be persons of Métis ancestry, at least (2) of whom shall be women.”
At present, we are seeking to fill the two designated positions for women.
Qualifications:
GDSF Trustee members will possess the following: Métis ancestry with a solid awareness of Métis history and culture; knowledge, skills, and expertise in the area of training and employment; grasp of the labour market and training trends within the area of impact; and must be reputable with a solid history of community service.
Responsibilities:
Trustees shall have all necessary powers and authority to ensure the Foundation is administered in accordance with the terms. Orientation will be provided to new Trustees. It is expected that Trustees attend scholarship adjudications, which occur bi-annually in the spring and fall. Honorarium and travel expenses are provided as per GDI policies. The term for this position will be a five-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.
