Métis Artist’s work displayed permanently in Parliament

Minister John Duncan unveiled artwork commemorating the legacy of former Indian Residential School students and their families. Métis artist Christi Belcourt’s artwork entitled “Giniigaaniimenaaning”, which means ‘Looking Ahead’, will be transformed into stained glass and installed in Centre Block on Parliament Hill. It will remain a permanent tribute to former students and to the historic apology delivered in Parliament on June 11, 2008.The full Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada press release can be found here
