Beauval ABE Achieve Record 100% Graduation Rate

Oct 23, 2019

Posted in:

During the 2018-2019 school year, Dumont Technical Institute was proud to offer an Adult Basic Education Level 3 Program in Beauval, Saskatchewan. Beauval is located about 400km northwest of Saskatoon on the gorgeous Beaver River Valley, hence the name ‘Beauval,’ which means ‘beautiful valley’ in French. The mayor, Nick Daigneault, was a big help in finding classroom space and student recruitment for the program.

The Adult Basic Education Level 3 program started in September 2018 with Rose Richardson as the instructor. Eleven students graduated from the program in May 2019. These included: Blaine Apesis, Kyle Bouvier, Sherra Buffinn, Kelly Burnoff, Sandra Hood, Susan Laliberte, Jeremy Lariviere, Cameron Morin, Dawn Morin, Tiffeny Natomagan, and Rachel Roy.

They will all be starting the Dumont Technical Institute Adult Basic Education Level 4 (Grade 12) this fall in Beauval. Rose will again be their teacher in the 2019-2020 school year. Congratulations to the Beauval Adult Basic Education Level 3 Class of 2019! And welcome to the Beauval Adult Basic Education Level 4 program starting September 3, 2019.

Rose Richardson is a respected Métis knowledge keeper. She is also an experienced Medicine woman and Métis Elder. In the past few years, she has specialized in traditional medicines to help cancer patients. Rose has a very warm demeanor and positive rapport with her students.

On each class visit, I can tell that students regard Rose as an Elder, a Kokum, and a teacher. Rose and her students always have big smiles on their faces every time I visit. Dumont Technical Institute is happy, lucky, and proud to have Rose as an instructor.
