Ministry of Highways Indigenous Roving Crew Program

The Ministry of Highways has 8 positions ( 3 E.O. / 5 laborers) available on their crew headquartered out of Saskatoon, 24 positions in total.  The employment term is from approximately April 25th to October 21st dependent on the weather, with interviews commencing in March and April.

The deadline to apply is April 1, 2022.

Positions Available

  • Equipment Operator (1A license required) $24.10/Hr
  • Labourer / Flag Person (5A license required) $ 19.50/Hr

Job Description

  • Operates and services heavy equipment involved in the preservation and maintenance of roads, highways and/or airports in summer maintenance. Equipment
  • includes, but is not limited to, oil distributor, single and tandem axel trucks, power broom, tractor, grader, and front-end loader.
  • Perform other duties such as cleaning the shop, culvert maintenance, crack filling, and directing traffic.
  • Clean up after accidents (e.g., debris, clutter, and animals).
  • Keep records and logs (e.g., hours of operation for
  • equipment, repairs, maintenance done to equipment,
  • amounts of material applied to highways, etc.).
  • Establish work zones and erects/replace signs.
  • Hourly rate $19.50/hr. (flag person/ Laborer) $24.10/hr. (1A operator)

Location & No. of Positions Available

  • North Battleford – 8 positions (3 equipment operator / 5 laborer positions)
  • Saskatoon – 8 positions (3 equipment operator / 5 laborer positions)
  • Yorkton – 8 positions (3 equipment operator / 5 laborer positions)

Length of Work Term

  • April 25th to October 21st

Interviews

  • March and the first 2 weeks in April
