GDITE Invites Applications for Volunteer Selection Committee Members

The Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI) invites applications from the Métis community for the following volunteer term position:

Northern Selection Committee Member (1 vacancy)

*Selection Meetings are held in Meadow Lake, SK

East-Central Selection Committee Member (1 vacancy)

*Selection Meetings are held in Prince Albert, SK

Southern Selection Committee Member (1 vacancy)

*Selection Meetings are held in Regina, SK

 

Gabriel Dumont Institute Training & Employment Inc. (GDITE) was established in 2006 to serve the Métis training and employment needs in Saskatchewan. GDITE falls under the parent umbrella organization of the Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research.

 

GDITE established four Selection Committees to target training resources for eligible students and labour market priorities. The four Selection Committees are designated by region: Northern, East-Central, Southern, and West-Central. Committee membership represents the targeted demographic region to ensure GDI develops a strong community connection.

 

Selection Committee members should possess the following:

•  Be a registered Métis Nation-Saskatchewan citizen with solid awareness of Métis history and culture;
•  Have knowledge, skills, and expertise in or around training and employment;
•  Have a clear understanding of labour market demand and training trends within the impacted demographic area; and
•  Must be reputable with a solid history of community service.

Priority will be given to those persons residing in the Selection Committee geographical area (GDI Métis Region map is attached). Applicants should identify which Selection Committee they are applying for, and which region they reside in (i.e., Moose Jaw is in Western Region III). Committee members are responsible for allocating training funds based on established eligibility criteria and local labour market information. Training will be provided for Selection Committee members, and meetings will be held approximately 6 to 8 times per year. Honorarium and travel expenses are provided, as per GDI policies. This is a three year term position from April 1st, 2025 until March 31st, 2028.
