  • Classes for Gabriel Dumont Institute/Dumont Technical Institute students are cancelled until Thursday March 19, 2020, at which time they will resume as distance, home-study, and/or online delivery (dependent upon the particular needs and capacity of the program/class in question).

  • The Melfort Tourism, Hospitality, and Camp Services Program in partnership with DTI and Tourism Saskatchewan is suspended until further notice.

Public Updates

  • GDI buildings and facilities are staffed and operational, but closed to the general public. Appointments may still be accommodated as long as those entering the building are not experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, have not returned from travel outside Canada within the last 14 days, and have not had close contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. If any of the above applies, please contact the office by telephone or email to make alternate arrangements.

  • DTI’s Testing Services Center in Saskatoon and Mobile Testing Lab – Closed until April 30th, at which time it will be re-evaluated to determine the public safety of opening up the center.

Gabriel Dumont Institute Training & Employment Funded Clients:

  • GDITE funded clients whose programs are interrupted or altered will not have their income support, dependent care, and other non-travel-related allowances penalized, reduced, or cancelled.
  • Additional supports are available for funded clients who are required to relocate due to the COVID-19 situation.
  • Additional supports are also being offered to funded clients whose programs are interrupted or altered, who would benefit from tutoring when programs resume.
  • GDITE funded clients whose programs are cancelled or extended due to COVID-19 will be allowed a one-time extension to their intervention.

For the health and safety of our workplaces and communities it is imperative to work together to limit exposure and spread of illness.

  • Practice effective handwashing techniques. Wash hands regularly with soap and water and for at least 20 seconds.
  • Stay home if you are sick (to prevent spreading illness to other people).
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or cough or sneeze into your arm. Turn away from other people. Dispose of tissues immediately.
  • Wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or using a tissue.
  • Do not touch your face (eyes, nose, or mouth).
  • Keep a distance of at least one to two meters (three to six feet) between people.

Information on the COVID-19 or Coronavirus pandemic changes daily. We encourage GDI staff, students, clients, and stakeholders to access reliable information and make every effort to keep informed about new developments.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Government of Saskatchewan Health Authority are two reliable sources.

Saskatchewan Health provides an online COVID-19 self-assessment tool.
