Wrap Yourself in History – Capote Workshop

Feb 1, 2016

Posted in:

Make a capote for yourself or a child-sized coat for your school! We will be offering two capote making workshops March 5 and 6 in Saskatoon. The workshop costs less than the full retail price of the blanket from which the capote will be made. All supplies and lunch are provided for $325.00. Many participants leave with the capote finished. Making this traditional coat is a wonderful learning experience and an opportunity to make a real keepsake. Wool blankets have history, both positive and negative, but as far as this beautiful coat goes, it kept many of our ancestors warm and showed the hybrid styling of the Métis who, to this day, are always inventing new ways of creating, and doing, things.
