GDI Calls For Order of Gabriel Dumont Nominations

This month, Gabriel Dumont Institute announced the call for nominations for the Order of Gabriel Dumont – to be awarded to individuals who have served or continue to serve the Métis of Canada with distinction. The award, which is made to any deserving person whether they are Métis or not, has three categories:

 

The Order of Gabriel Dumont Gold Medal recognizes those who have distinguished themselves with outstanding service to the Métis, usually based on lifetime achievements and service.

The Order of Gabriel Dumont Silver Medal honours those who have made a significant contribution to the Métis.

 

The Order of Gabriel Dumont Bronze Medal honours current and former Gabriel Dumont Institute students who have distinguished themselves through their perseverance, community involvement, and overall student performance.

Note that the deadline for nominating a deserving person is October 31, 2019.

 

The Order of Gabriel Dumont was last awarded in 2010 to 23 recipients. These included: Gold Medal: Clarence Campeau, and Guy Bouvier.

 

The Order of Gabriel Dumont Silver Medal: Rose Fleury, Elie Fleury, and Sheila Pocha.

 

The Order of Gabriel Dumont Bronze Medal recipients in 2010 were: Jennifer Altenberg; Tracy Arcand; Jennifer Brown; Kaitlin Fendelet; Arrick Forsythe; Helena Goulet; Bruce Janvier; Candace Janvier; Josh Lafontaine; Jacqueline Lavallee; and Theresa Malboeuf.

 

Other 2010 Order of Gabriel Dumont Bronze Medal recipients included Jenel Markwart; Gerald Nabess; Mike Palmer; Jason Phillips; Martine Smith; Teresa Thrun; as well as Holly Wiberg.
