The Order of Gabriel Dumont is a prestigious annual honour awarded to a select few recipients who exemplify outstanding service to the Métis of Canada. This award celebrates individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted the Métis community and is considered one of the Métis Nation’s highest civilian distinctions. You are invited to nominate someone you believe is deserving of this distinguished recognition.
The Gold Medal recognizes individuals for their lifetime achievements and services. Past recipients of the Gold Medal have dedicated their lives to advancing the Métis Nation through their work in areas such as education, politics, heath care, community development, and culture. These individuals, often nearing the culmination of their careers or retired, are celebrated for the lasting impact they have made in the Métis community over time.
The Silver Medal is awarded to individuals who are actively contributing to the Métis community through leadership, activism, arts, business, or other significant community contributions. These recipients are often still active in their careers and endevours, making ongoing efforts to enrich the lives of Métis people and strengthen the community through their work.
Nominations for the 2025 Order of Gabriel Dumont Gold and Silver Medals are open until November 1, 2024. Nominate someone today to ensure their efforts are celebrated and remembered.
