The Gabriel Dumont Institute is committed to the publication and development of Métis-specific cultural, literary, and educational resources for Métis children, youth, adults, and the non-Indigenous community.
The Virtual Museum of Métis History and Culture is GDI’s multifaceted, multimedia website dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Métis history and culture. This website is the most comprehensive attempt to chronicle traditional Métis history and culture on the World Wide Web and contains more than 14,600 primary and secondary documents–oral histories, essays, learning resources, photographs and various archival documents–in visual, audio and video files. The Virtual Museum ensures that the Métis have a user-friendly, free and accessible medium to tell their stories.
