Community Involvement

The Gabriel Dumont Institute Culture and Heritage Department is proud of our active community involvement. We participate with various heritage groups that support our press and the Institute’s mandate to preserve and promote Métis Culture, including (but certainly not limited to) the Saskatchewan Ânskohk Writers’ Circle Inc. (SAWCI) , SaskBooks, Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society, and the Museums Association of Saskatchewan.

The Gabriel Dumont Institute Métis Culture and Heritage Department serve as a liaison for the Métis community within the culture and heritage sector. For many years, the Department has had a consistent presence at Métis cultural events across Saskatchewan and throughout the Métis Homeland.

For more than 20 years, the Gabriel Dumont Institute Métis Culture and Heritage Department has had a close rewarding partnership with Batoche National Historic Site and Parks Canada. This partnership has allowed the Institute and Batoche National Historic Site and Parks Canada to cohost numerous events to promote and preserve Métis culture.
