John Arcand Fiddle Foundation

Applications are now being accepted for financial support from the John Arcand Fiddle Foundation!

NOTE: There are now 2 application forms. One is for individual applicants and the other is for groups or organizations who are applying for support for a festival or special event.

All applicants must reside in Saskatchewan. Festivals and special events must take place in Saskatchewan.

Application Deadlines:

Individuals – twice annually, October 1st and April 30th. Apply online by using the application link below.

Festivals/Special Events – can apply once annually, either October 1st or April 30th. Request an application from jaff@gdins.org for now. Online applications will be available in the future.

The John Arcand Fiddle Foundation (JAFF) exists because of the donation of funds made after the dissolution of the John Arcand Fiddle Fest in 2021. The Festival was an annual event with the mandate to promote and preserve Métis-style fiddle music and dance. This fund was developed through a partnership with the Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI).

For Individual Applicants

This funding opportunity remains true to the Festival’s mandate by offering financial support to individuals who seek to learn, or further their education in, Métis and old time fiddle, music, and Métis dance.

This may be accomplished by, but is not limited to, the following activities:

• Lessons in fiddle, guitar, and Métis dance
• Instrument rental
• Attendance for instruction at camps and gatherings
• Travel assistance to camps and gatherings

Applicants can apply for up to $1,200.

For Groups or Organizations Hosting Festivals and Special Events

• The festival or special event supports the JAFF mandate to promote and preserve Métis-style fiddle music and dance by offering a component or focus that promotes and preserves Métis and old time fiddle, music, and Métis dance.
• Cost incurred to support the JAFF mandate which may include instructor or performer costs.
• Applicants can apply for up to $2,000.
